First-time homelessness increased 12% last year in LA County; while prevention is a brand new service that the government is starting to fund, services are limited, and the cities of Pasadena and Glendale only have prevention funds for individuals, not families.
Through our homelessness prevention program, we have prevented homelessness for 14 families by partnering with 7 local churches in this way, and we would love for you to be our next church partner!
Our vision is to mobilize the Church to prevent homelessness for at-risk families in LA County: Door of Hope provides all the case management and housing retention services; churches provide the one-time financial assistance ($1-$2,000/family) and could refer clients to the program. 100% of the church’s donation would be an immediate pass-through to the landlord; Door of Hope would cover all staffing and program costs.
