On Sunday, March 8, 2026, Team Door of Hope marathoners and half marathoners hit the pavement to raise funds to PREVENT families from facing homelessness in LA County where there are over 72,000 unhoused individuals. On Saturday, March 7, 2026, Team Door of Hope also participated in the 5K run. The 5K event is perfect for families (strollers welcome!) and runners/walkers alike.
To be a walker/ runner, there are no entry fees but fundraising is required. The LA 5K is at Dodger Stadium. The LA Half/Full Marathon begins at Dodger Stadium and ends in Santa Monica. Please check out the resources on this webpage and reach out to Melody if you have any questions at:

Founded in 1985, at Door of Hope we believe that every family deserves to stay together, especially in times of crisis. As a Christian non-profit based in Pasadena, we serve Los Angeles County by providing Homelessness Prevention Services, Transitional Housing, Alumni Services and the Eaton Fire Assistance Program where families—single moms, single dads, and two-parent families—can find refuge.
The 2025 Homeless Count revealed sobering statistics. Family homelessness has risen by 6% in LA County and 4% in Pasadena, because more people are falling into homeless every year – not due to failure in housing programs, but because prevention efforts aren’t keeping pace.

Homelessness deeply affects children and youth, resulting in three times higher rates of anxiety and emotional distress. These young people are 87% more likely to drop out of school and five times more likely to face homelessness as adults. Yet, few shelters cater to the unique needs of families, despite the incredible impact of helping them. Supporting one family can uplift over three individuals and break the cycle of homelessness for future generations.

For just $5,000, we can prevent one family, like Marcellus and Aimee, from becoming homeless. For just $13,000, we prevent families like Erica, survivors of the Eaton Fire, from becoming homeless.
In response to the devasting Eaton Fire, Door of Hope Launched the Eaton Fire Housing Assistance Program – an urgent effort to help families rebuild. Through this program, we re-housed 150 displaced families, provide emergency shelter to 13 fire survivor households and prevent eviction for 54 families at risk of homelessness in 2025.
In LA County, more people are falling into homelessness than escaping it. The most effective solution is prevention.
Our Homelessness Prevention program offers emergency rental assistance, landlord mediation, and holistic services to help families maintain their housing and regain stability—at a fraction of the cost of addressing homelessness after it occurs.
