Our kids just got back from a week at Forest Home! 16 Door of Hope kids got the chance to rock climb, swim, worship, and learn camping skills — growing emotionally and spiritually while having a blast!

Meet one of this year’s campers, Melion (pictured above). It was his first time ever attending an overnight camp, and he was stoked! He was full of curiosity and questions as the team was preparing to go. Throughout the week, God showed up through the mentorship he received from Forest Home staff and Door of Hope counselors, from the brotherly bond he found in his cabin mates, and finally through developing a deeper relationship with God.

Melion had a blast with all the outdoor and water activities, but more importantly, he has developed a love for worship and knowing more about God. His mom too was blessed by getting to witness the growth in her son through his first week up at Forest Home Camp. As Melion reflects, “I’ve learned God is always by our side and he will always give us another chance.”

This is just one of many ways we invest in our kids, striving to break the cycle of homelessness not only for parents but for the next generation!

Throughout the year, we run after-school programs to support academic, emotional, social, and physical success. Children who have experienced homelessness face complex social and emotional health challenges due to the anxiety that can come from an unstable home. We provide quality after-school programming, mentoring and enrichment activities, and partnerships with community volunteers, mentors, and local churches to build networks of support and a sense of belonging.

You can invest in our kids too! It only takes $79/month for one child to receive our children’s programming. Sign up today to Equip-A-Family! Your $79/month can end homelessness one child at a time. Follow our donate tab and click Equip-A-Family to learn more.
